I've been having some difficulty trying to figure out how to implement jumping and platforming in a top down perspective game I'm working on. The player object needs to typically walk on the ground level (up, down, left, right) and if it jumps, it should land where it left off unless the player is also pressing the joystick, in which case the player object should jump in that direction.
